GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation. It is a comprehensive data privacy and protection regulation introduced by the European Union (EU) to enhance the rights of individuals regarding their personal data and to provide a standardized framework for how organizations handle and process that data. GDPR applies to both EU citizens' data and the data of individuals located within the EU, regardless of where the processing takes place.
In German, the abbreviation DSGVO is used.
